Wash Tip: How to get White Towels, White Again

There is nothing better than having a nice full set of fluffy white towels to brighten up any bathroom. Of course, nothing is worse than having a pile of dingy, gray towels to throw a damper over the hole mood of the bathroom.

If your white towels are in need of a pick me up, don't worry. You can bring them back to life with a few simple, every day house hold items. These time tested treatments are sure to make those towels bright white again.

Items You Will Need

  • 1/4 tsp. Mrs. Stewart's Bluing
  • 1/2 Cup White Distilled Vinegar
  • 1 qt. Cold Water
  • Hot Water

Creating Bluing Solution

  1. Fill washer with warm water
  2. Mix 1/4 tsp. Mrs. Stewart's Bluing with 1 qt. cold water
  3. Add bluing solution to washer water
  4. Add towels to washer
  5. Launder towels in regular washer cycle

Creating Vinegar Solution

  1. Soak towels in vinegar and hot waster for two hours at least; overnight is best
  2. Rinse
  3. Hang towels in direct sunlight to dry
